In English, plural means “more than one.”Most nouns have a plural form that we use when talking about two or more people, animals, or things.
1. Add -s (most common)
book / books
car / cars
dog / dogs
- bus / buses
- box / boxes
- potato / potatoes
- church / churches
3. Change -y to -ies (when a consonant + y)
baby / babies
lady / ladies
(but if a vowel + y, just add -s)
boy / boys
key / keys
4. Change -f or -fe to -ves

knife /knives
(but some just add -s: roof / roofs)
5. Irregular plurals
Some words don’t follow the rules:
