Articles are small words in English that we put before nouns to show whether we are talking about something specific or general.
There are two types:
1. Definite Article

The: used when talking about something specific or already known.

(A particular book, not just any book.)

2. Indefinite Articles

A: used before singular, countable nouns that begin with a consonant sound.

Example: I saw a dog in the park.

An: used before singular, countable nouns that begin with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).

Example: She ate an apple.

Use the when the listener/reader knows which thing you mean.

Use a/an when talking about something for the first time or in a general sense.

No article is needed for plural nouns or uncountable nouns when speaking generally.
