Talking about studying before an exam:



1. Hit the books: to start studying seriously.

        Example: “I can’t go out tonight, I need to hit the books.”

2. Cram: to study a lot in a short time, usually the night before.

        Example: “I was up all night cramming for the math test.”

3. Pull an all-nighter: to stay awake all night studying.

        Example: “She pulled an all-nighter to finish revising.”

4. Burn the midnight oil: to study or work late into the night.

        Example: “We had to burn the midnight oil before the exam.”

5. Bury yourself in books : to spend all your time studying.

        Example: “He buried himself in books all week.”

6. Brush up on: to review or practice something you already learned.

        Example: “I need to brush up on my grammar rules.”
