Conjunctions are words that connect words, phrases, or clauses to form longer, more complex sentences. Common examples include "and," "but," and "or". There are three main types: coordinating, subordinating, and correlative conjunctions.
A. Coordinating Conjunctions
Coordinating conjunctions connect words, phrases, or clauses of equal importance in a sentence. The seven coordinating conjunctions are for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. When joining two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction, a comma should be placed before the conjunction.
